Levine recently told Billboard that "Hands All Over," which was produced by Mutt Lange (AC/DC, Shania Twain), "kind of hearkens back to the spirit behind the first record [2002's quadruple platinum 'Songs About Jane']." The singer said the new album's title track is one of the hardest rocking tracks Maroon 5 has ever recorded while single "Misery" is "the most Maroon 5-sounding song on the album." Also keep an ear out for country-flavored "Out of Goodbyes," which features a guest appearance by Lady Antebellum, and the '60s pop-flavored "Stutter," which Levine said is "not like anything you've heard from us before."

Fans who see the band live this summer will be treated to "a nice handful" of these new tunes, Levine said. "We're just getting back to he roots of what we are, which is just a band. Somewhere along the line we turned into a very successful band, but we're definitely all about the idea now that we just like to go play music, so we're going to do that as much as possible, all over the place."

MTV Gives a Behind the Scenes of Maroon 5's New Video

‘Misery’ Behind-the-Scenes: Maroon 5’s Adam Levine Gets Dropped on His A**
June 29,2010

If we're to believe the tabloids, relationships have been difficult for Adam Levine, lead singer of Maroon 5. So perhaps that's why all of his songs explore the drama and pain of love. "It's good therapy to write about them," Levine recently told MTV News.

Ah, but it's even better therapy (or at least more fun) to act out that romantic angst with spine-cracking stunts and a domineering blonde! In the video for the band's bubbly new single, "Misery," (the first off their new album Hands All Over) Levine stumbles off a building, crashes through plate glass and gets smacked around by supermodel Anne Vyalitsyna. "We decided to focus on violence instead of sex this time around," joked bassist Mickey Madden.

Check out the behind-the-scenes footage for the video below, and keep your eyes peeled for the premiere of "Misery" later this week on MTV.com.

Examiner Reviews Maroon 5 "Misery"

Maroon 5's new Single 'Misery' Leaked on Internet
A day Before Release
June 22, 2010
By Carla Durham

Maroon 5 fans got a pleasant surprise when the band's new single Misery was briefly available for digital download on Monday morning. The first single from Maroon 5's upcoming album Hands All Over was reported to hit radio stations on June 28. Monday, June 21st maroon5.com posted a reminder that the single would be released digitally on Tuesday but some fans had discovered that the single was already available on iTunes and Amazon.com very early Monday morning. The song was eventually removed from online stores but it was already circulating on the Internet, including on YouTube.

Misery is already a hit with fans. Maroon 5 didn't seem upset about the leak as band members Adam Levine and James Valentine took to Twitter, glad that fans liked the song and that the leak hadn't come sooner.

As It Won't Be Soon Before Long seemed like a departure from Maroon 5's debut album Songs About Jane, fans didn't know what direction the music might take on the next album. Putting legendary producer Robert "Mutt" Lange into the mix created bigger expectations. Misery has delivered, containing the best of hits This Love and Makes Me Wonder, funky bass lines, unforgettable melodies, lovelorn lyrics and a catchy chorus. Misery has the potential to be this summer's pop hit and could launch Hands All Over as another platinum selling album.
